I could relate to what Mr. Zander had to say...

For all those who see the glass as half empty, it'll take a retraining of our brains, our minds to now see the glass as half full and take it from there. Or, maybe that is not what he was trying to say but that is what I took from the reading. You have to start somewhere... That Universe of possibility that he speaks of is not so easy to achieve without conscious thought and the rebuilding of schemas.
I am convinced that some people are born a certain way. Not everyone can be inventors, although we are inventors of our destinies, which of course can be confined by our places of origin, our cultures, our families. Sometimes it is hard to know or understand your place in this universe, you can feel so insignificant when comparing yourself to those around you. To speak of and to yourself as being an 'A' as opposed to be number '68' is sure life changing. But it is a conscious decision.
I have long since felt that the moon and the stars though magnificent in their splendor, cannot even begin to compare to how and who I am, but there are times when I have to remind myself that it is so. It takes a renewing of the mind and that seems a constant struggle to accomplish.
I love the story of the Me'en people, it would be too easy to say they live a 'simple' life as I am sure it is quite the contrary (everything is relative). Things that we may take for granted because it is a part of our world, for others, it is a new thing to know to wonder at/about, to taste, to experience. To get back to that type of 'livety', to lead a life full of wonder, possibility, awe. I know some have achieved it here, some of have taken themselves outside of society to be rid of all the distractions- the latter does sound very appealing.
Although the post below (I 'borrowed' from a Facebook post) is humorous, I wonder if this is what Ben Zander is referring to-

Love the exam answers... perfect way to say that what we assume isn't the only point of view. Excellent.
